Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Masrouf (“Masrouf”, “we”, “us”) handles your information when you use the Masrouf app on iPhone or Android and the website masroufapp.com. If you have any questions, email us at team@masroufapp.com.

1. Information we collect

Account information

You can sign in with Apple, with Google, or with your phone number. Sign-in is handled by Firebase Authentication, a service from Google.

• Sign in with Apple: we receive the name and email address you choose to share. Apple lets you hide your real email by sharing a private relay address instead.
• Sign in with Google: we receive the basic profile details Google shares, such as your name and email address.
• Phone number: we receive your phone number. A one-time verification code is sent to it by text message through Firebase. Your carrier's standard message rates may apply.

Masrouf doesn't use passwords, so we never see or store one.

Profile and budget information

To set up your budget, you give us information that is stored in Google Cloud Firestore:

• Your name
• Income sources and amounts
• Fixed expenses
• Savings goal
• Budget and categories
• Currency

Expenses

Each expense you add is stored in Google Cloud Firestore with its amount, title, category, date and an optional note.

Voice input

When you tap the microphone, your speech is converted to text by your phone's speech recognition:

• On iPhone, Apple's speech recognition does this. Apple may send the audio to its servers, as described in Apple's Privacy Policy.
• On Android, your phone's speech recognition service does this, usually Google's. Google may send the audio to its servers, as described in Google's Privacy Policy.

Masrouf does not store audio recordings. Turning the text into an expense (the amount and category) happens on your device, and no third-party AI service is used.

Website waiting list

If you join the waiting list on masroufapp.com, we store the email address you enter, the time you signed up, which button you used, and a scrambled (one-way hashed) version of your IP address that we use only to block spam. We use your email only to tell you when Masrouf launches.

2. How we use your information

We use your information only to provide Masrouf's features:

• Signing you in and keeping your account secure
• Saving your budget, categories and expenses so they're there when you open the app
• Calculating your daily budget, totals and reports
• Replying when you contact us

3. What we don't do

• We don't show ads.
• We don't track you across other apps or websites.
• We don't sell or rent your data to anyone.
• We don't use third-party analytics.

4. Services we rely on

• Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore) signs you in, sends phone verification codes, and stores your account and app data. See Firebase's privacy information. Firebase may store data in data centers outside your country.
• Apple provides Sign in with Apple, and on iPhone, Apple's speech recognition turns your voice into text.
• Google provides Google Sign-In, and on most Android phones, Google's speech recognition turns your voice into text.
• Hostinger hosts our website, including its fonts, and stores the waiting list.

Our website does not use cookies. It saves one small note in your browser so the waiting list popup doesn't keep appearing after you've seen it.

5. How long we keep your data

We keep your account, profile and expenses until you delete them. We keep your waiting list email until you ask us to remove it.

6. Deleting your data

In the app, go to Settings → Delete Account. This permanently deletes your account, your profile and all your expenses. You can also email team@masroufapp.com and ask us to delete your account or remove you from the waiting list.

7. Security

Your data is sent over encrypted connections and stored with Google Firebase. No service can promise perfect security, but we only collect what the app needs, which keeps the risk small.

8. Children

Masrouf is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, email team@masroufapp.com and we'll delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the effective date at the top.
